We source our Togo Shrunken leather from reputable tanneries in France and Germany, like Perlinger or Du Puy. This kind of leather is the top choice by Hermes for their products. Togo is believed to be the most expensive and luxurious calfskin leather you can find.
Thus, Togo leather is said to be the “King of Calfskin and Cowhide”. Introduced in 1997, this calfskin leather was named after the Togolese Republic in Africa. Togo is super soft and supple to the touch. This leather can also resist water and scratches very well. The process of shrinking using heat and running the leather through intensive drumming cycles created the perfect triangle grain patterns on the surface. Togo leather has a matte finish but it tends to get shinier a bit over time. With proper care and storage, this kind of leather can last for decades.
There is a lot of other kinds of leather that replicate the properties and, especially, the look of Togo leather. In fact, Hermes themselves do use similar kinds of leather, namely Negonda, and Clemence. Among those names, Togo is the best option when it comes to leather belts.
Pin buckle to prevent leather cracks
For the regular tongue (prong) buckle, leather will be bent and stretched heavily at the tongue positions. Over time, it is the tongue that breaks the belt quickly.
To prevent such situations, the pin buckle uses a round pin stud to lock the belt. This mechanism involves no bending or stretching at the locking position. Also, the tail of the belt will go “under” the head (buckle), creating a sleeker and cleaner look for your outfit.
Tough & Durable
Heritela’s belts are constructed with 4 layers including a 0.1mm Velodon fabric to prevent from stretching and distortion overtime. This structure will help the belt to be lighter, softer and more durable. Also, we used premium quality linen thread and edge paint to maximize the age of the belts. Though deformation is inevitable, your proper usages and caring will help the belts to stay a little longer, may be to 5 years or more.
Hand-sewn with heart
All our belts are made by artisans that have at least 5 years of experience. So, you will see that the stitches, edge paint, and bonding areas are very carefully done. Also, the straps have to pass our Quality Checklist with 15 -18 criteria before arriving at your doorstep.
While human errors are inevitable, we try to avoid it as much as we can by proper processes.
Worry-free warranty
All Heritela’s products are under 1 to 2 year guarantee on manufacturer defects including leather pop and crack, losing bonding, paint and stitches. After the guarantee period ends, we will give up to 30% discount for the fixes. We will also give discount to fix your leather goods even if you did not buy them from us.
